About Us
Our Vision:
Is to foster interest in the arts, by supporting both beginners and experienced artists, and to encourage children and students to develop their skills and talents.
We participate in:
Community activities such as the Whanganui Artists Open Studio weekends and host exhibitions during the year, culminating with our Annual Exhibition. The annual exhibition features selected artworks, cash prizes for 1ST,2ND and 3RD places, and Merit awards. We hold groups, social events and more.
'Plein Talking' Members Monthly Meeting 6:30pm at the RSA, St Hill Street. A time for all the members to get together, share their work, ideas, and catch up on what is going on in the Arts Society. A time to make friends and be social. Drinks and Nibbles can be purchased at the bar.
Tuesday morning painting group 9:30-12 noon in the Arts Society rooms for interested people to come and work, sharing ideas and knowledge with each other.
Costs $2 per person.
Portrait Group every 2nd Saturday morning of the month.
10am-12 noon.

Cost $5 per person.
Plein Air Painting Group. Go on painting adventures to different areas around Wanganui.
If you would like to be involved in this group phone Diane 343 3151. These adventures can be arranged on the day so be sure to have your name on the phone list to be contacted or you may miss out.

Coffee Group every Wednesday morning 10:30am. Very social, a time to sit relax and enjoy a coffee with a good group of people. Venue: Rutland Arms.

Please note members of the art society come first when booking dates to hire the building.
