Annual General Meeting

Wednesday the 5th August 2009 at 5:30pm, to be held in conjunction with the Plein Talking meeting.

The AGM will be held at the
Wanganui RSA, 170 St Hill Street, Wanganui, NZ

Nominations for position of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure and committee.


Several of the committee are standing down - if you are 'committee minded' and committed to the continuation of your Arts Society - please express your interest. We need proactive, computer savy positive people with great ideas who are able to attend the monthly meetings.


Plein Air Painting Adventure - 15th March 2009 - CANCELLED!

No packing up your paints and afternoon tea this trip has been cancelled.

Art Society Monthly Members Meetings at the RSA.

barbara.jpgOur new committee are all in agreement that friendships and inspiration should be found within our members of the art society therefore we all have agreed on a members informal meeting every first Wednesday of the month.

The first informal meeting will be at 5pm, 5th November 2008, at the RSA.

Members can bring new works, option for objective critiques for those that would like it, one or two artists can briefly speak about their work/recent travels/artistic experiences.


You are able purchase drinks and nibbles at the bar.


POETRY

Poetry and afternoon tea at the Wanganui Arts Society.
Read your own poems or someone elses.
First session ....June 29th Sunday at 2.30pm with a $3.00 entry fee.

Wanganui Draft Arts Policy 2008

On 19 May 2008, the Council approved the Wanganui District Council Draft Arts Policy 2008 for public consultation.

The Council invites the public to provide feedback on the draft policy.

The objectives of the Wanganui District Council Arts Policy are:

1. To build Wanganui's profile as a centre of excellence for the arts through improved management, marketing and promotion of the arts.
2. To build creative capacity.
3. To maximise the tourism and economic potential that can be derived from the arts sector.
4. To improve access to and participation in arts activities.
5. Our built environment reflects our culture through the use of public art.

Consultation
Copies of the Wanganui District Council Draft Arts Policy and submission form are available for public inspection, during normal working hours, at the Customer Service Desk at the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street; District Library, Queens Park; Community Arts Centre, Taupo Quay, Wanganui. The consultation period will be from 5 June 2008 to 18 July 2008.

2008 Carey Smith & Co Ltd Whanganui Arts Review

It's that time of year again for all of Wanganui artists to get their art ready for the Whanganui Arts Review at the Sarjeant Gallery. OPEN AWARD $1000, highly recommend $250. Two works per artist may be submitted. Click here to download a PDF copy of the entry form.
