About us

Our Vision

Is to foster interest in the arts, by supporting both beginners and experienced artists, and to encourage children and students to develop their skills and talents.

We participate in

Social events, host creative groups, join in on other community activities, host an annual exhibition, and more. 

Our annual exhibition features selected artworks, cash prizes for 1ST,2ND and 3RD places, and Merit awards. 

'Plein Talking' members monthly meeting first wednesday of the month 6:30pm at the Wanganui Arts Society building. A time for all the members to get together, share their work, ideas, and catch up on what is going on within the Arts Society. All members welcome.

Tuesday morning painting group 9:30-12 noon in the Arts Society building for all to come and work, sharing ideas and knowledge with each other. Costs $2 per person.

Portrait Group every 2nd Saturday morning of the month, 10am-12 noon.

Plein Air Painting different areas around Wanganui. If you would like to be involved in this group phone Diane 343 3151. These outings can be arranged on the day so be sure to have your name on the phone list to be contacted or you may miss out.

Life Drawing group - if you wish to join the group please call Brenda on 345 6774.

Monthly Newsletters. 

Arts Society Rooms are available for hire $35 per half day, and $50 per full day. Call Diane on 343 3151 to book. Members of the art society come first when booking dates.

The Arts Society Building is located behind Cooks Garden in Trafalgar Place, Wanganui.
