About us

Our Vision

Is to foster interest in the arts, by supporting both beginners and experienced artists, and to encourage children and students to develop their skills and talents.

We participate in

Social events, host creative groups, join in on other communities, activities, host an annual exhibition, and more.

Our annual exhibition features selected artworks.

'Plein Talking' is a members monthly meeting first Wednesday of the month 6:30pm at the Wanganui Arts Society building. A time for all the members to get together, share their by work, ideas, and catch up on what is going on within the Arts Society.There is also interesting guest speakers each month. All members welcome.

Monday mornings - Watercolour group 9.30 - 12noon cost $3 per person in the Art Society building.

Tuesday mornings Painting group 9:30-12 noon in the Arts Society building for all to come and by work, sharing ideas and knowledge with each other. Costs $3 per person .

Portrait Group  2nd Saturday of the month, 10am-12 noon.

Plein Air Painting- different areas around Wanganui. If you would like to be involved in this group phone Barbara on 3457757. These outings can be arranged on the day so be sure to have your name on the phone list to be contacted or you may miss out.

Life Drawing group -1st Saturday of the month, if you wish to join the group please call Brenda on 345 6774.

Monthly Newsletters.

Arts Society Rooms are available for hire $35 per half day, and $50 per full day. Call Barbara on 3457757 to book. Members of the art society come first when booking dates.

The Arts Society Building is located behind Cooks Garden in Trafalgar Place, Wanganui.
